The astonishing roots of the pandanus tree, Paradise Island, Bahamas

This plant is named the "pandanus". Its leaves have  been used for centuries  in the Pacific (especially in French Polynesia) for covering the roofs of traditional houses ( named"fares") and also for the roofs of  modern  resort hotels inspired by  traditional architecture.

It's quite astonishing that one never found such  roofs in the Bahamas.
The roots of the pandanus tree are quite amazing!!!!  Such Multiple "arm-like" roots are intented to find as much water as possible for the growth of the plant. One can see such  intricated roots in mangroves all over tropical areas.
