Cutty Sark Tea Clipper in Greenwich, London

This is the Cutty Sark which is the most famous Tea Clipper of them all. It is preserved in Greenwich, just south of the River Thames in London.

The brick building with the dome on top is the south bank entrance to the free foot tunnel (one of two) under the River Thames. (I have a pano shot down there if people are interested, but it was very dark.)

The building across the River with the pyramid roof is the main tower at Canary Wharf. The Shard can also be seen in the distance upstream.

The ship is suspended in mid air, so you can walk around underneath the hull (inside the glass structure).

This was taken after the Cutty Sark (built in 1869) had finished its repairs after a near-disastrous fire in 2007.

BTW a Tea Clipper is a fast ship used to transport Tea from China to The U.K. Although in fact the ship spent some time transporting Wool from Australia to the U.K., as the opening of the Suez Canal allowed Steam powered Ships to take over the Tea trade.
