What to say about this bridge, I think it is the most famous around the "Old Continent". Is a 16th century Turkish bridge in the city of Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina that crosses the river Neretva and connects two parts of the city. The bridge was destroyed by Croatian Defence Council units during the War in Bosnia-Herzegovina, on November 9, 1993 at 10.15 am. Consequently, a project was set in motion to rebuild it, and the new bridge opened on July 23, 2004.

A monumental project to rebuild the Old Bridge to the original design, and restore surrounding structures and historic neighbourhoods was initiated in 1999 and mostly completed by Spring 2004. The money for this reconstruction was donated by Spain (who had a sizeble contingent of peacekeeping troops stationed in the surrounding area during the conflict), the United States, Turkey, Italy, the Netherlands, and Croatia

Now listed as a World Heritage Site, the bridge was rebuilt under the aegis of UNESCO. Its 1,088 stones were shaped according to the original techniques, and the reconstruction cost about 12 million euro. It reopened on July 23, 2004.

Thanks hub, the only thing I that it bothers me it´s that I missed the exposure and I could not shoot an HDR. I burned a little it a little bit. But it was very emotive doing there that photo because it´s real recent history.  If you didn´t had time to visit Mostar you have to do it when you can because it´s amazing.
