Czocha castle - fortified castle located in the border town of Sucha, by Lesna Lagoon on Kwisa in the Polish part of Upper Lusatia. The original name was probably Czajków (1329: castrum Caychow), before 1945 Tzschocha.
It originated as a border fortress on the border between Silesia and Sorbian in the years 1241-1247 by order of the Czech king Wenceslas I. In 1253 the sent Meissener bishop von Weisenow (Lusatia were then part of the Czech Kingdom).
In year 1319 as a dowry and the surrounding lands was included in the principality of Henry I of Jawor. After the death of a relative in 1346 it has been taken over, together with the whole principality of the deceased, by Bolko II the Small, Duke of Jawor-Świdnica. After the death of Princess Agnes, widow of Bolko, under the system of survival of the emperor and Czech king Charles IV came to the Czech Republic. Between 1389 and 1453 it was property of  families on the estates of knights von Dohna and von Klüks. At the beginning of the fifteenth century, unsuccessfully besieged by the Hussites, finally in 1427, during  the absence of the owners it was conquered by the troops  leded by Czirnin. Reflected shortly thereafter.
Purchased in 1909 by the Dresden manufacturer of tobacco products (cigars) Ernst Gütschow for 1.5 million marks, until 1912 it was rebuilt by the famous Berlin architect Bodo Ebhardt, preserved in accordance with the appearance of the figure from 1703. During the reconstruction  many of the earliest fragments of the complex has been destroyed. In the old moat zoo has been organized. Gütschow maintained good relations with the tsar's court, and after the revolution with Russian emigrants, of whom was buying various items of high artistic value. He have lived in  the castle until March 1945. Leaving the castle he brought the most valuable piece of equipment. During the Second World War, the castle housed the school encriptors of german counterespionage army department, Abwehr. Perhaps the device was stored here to decipher Soviet telegrams (operation code-named fish-sword).
After World War II, the castle went through various vicissitudes. He was repeatedly robbed by both the Russians and the native looters, with furniture and equipment. Biggest theft committed on or after 1 February 1946 by the mayor of the Lesna, Casimir Lech, together with Krystyna von Saurma, castle librarian, who discovered the castle stuff taking away a truck full of castle property (Romanov crown jewels, 60 busts of Russian Tsars, 100 icons, porcelain tableware, jewelry, paintings), with which he managed to escape to the American occupation zone. Then for a short time in the castle have lived  the refugees from Greece who held animals in the knights' hall, thus complementing the work of devastation. From 1952 in castle was Military Holiday House and for this reason the object was no secret and has appeared on maps. Since September 1996 publicly available as a hotel and conference center. Since 2006 owner of the castle was the Military Property Agency.
The picturesque buildings of the castle were the creation of film background: Where is the General?, The Witcher, The Legend, Beyond Sherwood Forest and the series Secret of the fortress of Cipher, Spellbinder, and first love.
