The massive airport of Hong Kong, once the most expensive building project in the world is built on shifting sand, literally - a man made island reclaimed from the sea by the northwestern shoreline of the largest outlying land mass of Hong Kong, the Lantau island. Visitors could see the 2nd and the 3rd highest peaks in Hong Kong from the airport, of the two the Sunset Peak is the more strenuous one to climb to but the view is the best and least spoiled by the commercial quasi-religious edifices of its higher sibling, the Lantau Peak.
